Winter Session 2024

The exit from ET has pushed off the studies until later.

This January, we will look at one book in C. S. Lewis' space trilogy. Doug Olena will hold a conversation about the story and implications of That Hideous Strength. In February, Doug Olena will guide us through an introduction to Artificial Intelligence, the next revolution and how it relates to the Church and us as individual believers.

Spring Session 2024

Beginning on April 7 we will begin a journey through Genesis. At the suggestion of Bob Hanson, we will be using the Bill Moyers documentary on Genesis: A Living Conversation. Each week we will hold our discussion around the topic provided in the schedule below. The videos of this conversation will be made available to class members through a private link to avoid public distribution.

The conversations on the videos do not necessarily revolve around evangelical presuppositions. The videos are meant as rational stimulus for conversation not aiming necessarily at “orthodox” views.

Volunteers, (you) will guide the discussion each week. You should feel free to stick as closely or loosely to the video suggestions as you wish. How the discussion goes will be up to you. We should assume that people have watched the video conversations.

Summer Session 2024

Beginning on July 7 we will offer some of our interactions in the world in the Spirit of God. Following 1 Corinthians 14:26 where Paul says, “What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.”

If you have something that should take the whole meeting time, please let us know beforehand so we can selecte an appropriate date. If you have materials you want to supply to the group, please send them to Doug Olena beforehand if you can.

Fall Session 2024

Beginning September 1, we will begin an exploration of the work of Jim Stump, a member of BioLogos. The Sacred Chain: How Understanding Evolution Leads to Deeper Faith

Please look at the Sacred Chain Table of Contents and select a few chapters to comment on. Let me know what you choose and when you'll be prepared to share it. See the schedule below.
